As Program Director Brian Leffler is responsible for the day to day operations of the school site. He oversees all facets of programming, including academics, vocational training, case management, student/alumni life and post-secondary/career services. Brian is also responsible for the comprehensive planning of Year 1 and Year 2 activities, staff professional development, performance management and internal data.
Brian has been a member of the YouthBuild team since 2001. He holds a Master’s Degree of Science in Experiential Education, a BS in Kinesiology and has extensive experience with alternative education programs, both as a teacher and administrator. He is working towards a school principal certification through the Pennsylvania Department of Education’s Inspired Leadership Program.
Brian has been able to combine his passions for volunteering and travel through his work with Home of the Dying, Missionaries of Charity in Calcutta, India and as a Peace Corps volunteer in Zambia, Africa. For several years, Brian has led annual service spring break trips for YouthBuild students, in locations ranging from Guatemala to the Gulf Coast and Utuado, Puerto Rico.
Brian’s absolute favorite day of the year at YouthBuild is the day students are accepted. And the school picnic. And Community Night. And graduation.
