On Wednesday, December 4, 2024, we celebrated a milestone over 30 years in the making – the grand opening of our brand-new, $25 million state-of-the-art campus at 2309 North Broad Street. This historic ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the beginning of a new chapter for YouthBuild Philly – one defined by expanded opportunities, increased enrollment, and a new home for empowering the young people we serve.<\/span><\/p>\n

The celebration, hosted by Lowell Nottage, YouthBuild Philly Class of 2019 alum and current Building Trades Instructor, drew a crowd of over 60 attendees, including elected officials, community leaders, donors, alumni, staff, and students. Inspiring remarks set the tone for the day, delivered by Councilman Jeffery Young, State Representative Jason Dawkins, Sean Tobin from Congressman Brendan Boyle\u2019s office, Dr. Debora Carrera, Chief Education Officer of the Mayor\u2019s Office of Education, YouthBuild Philly Board of Trustees Chair Kiley Smith Kelly, and YouthBuild Philly CEO Le\u2019Yondo Dunn. Each speaker highlighted the transformative impact this new building will have on the school\u2019s ability to fulfill its mission of reclaiming education and creating brighter futures for young people.<\/p>\n

Guests were immersed in the energy and talent of YouthBuild Philly students. Culinary arts students showcased their skills by preparing gourmet hors d\u2019oeuvres, while our Healthcare and Building Trades students provided hands-on demonstrations of their trades. Attendees also enjoyed guided tours of the impressive new facility, led by students who proudly shared the significance of this space for their education and growth.<\/span><\/p>\n

The event also honored the dedication of the Capital Campaign Committee, led by Marty Brigham, whose tireless efforts and vision brought this dream to fruition. YouthBuild Philly\u2019s new home is more than just a building; it\u2019s a beacon of hope and possibility for the 278 students enrolled this year – the school\u2019s largest cohort to date – and for generations of students to come.<\/span><\/p>\n
