Director of Vocational Training
Marty joined YouthBuild Philadelphia in the 06-07 school year as the Director of Transition Services where he established the Transition Services (now Postsecondary Carer Development) department, serving graduates and helping them take the next step through strong post-secondary partnerships with colleges and training programs. In 2010, Marty stepped away from YouthBuild to become the Executive Director of Greater Philadelphia Cares. After navigating Philly Cares through a merger with UWGPSNJ in 2012, Marty was able to return home to YouthBuild as the Director of Vocational Training. Since Marty’s return, YouthBuild has launched a new training track in Child Development, revamped and expanded Healthcare training, established partnerships with regional contractors and unions and has the highest number of students placed in the construction field. Marty bleeds YouthBuild and draws inspiration from the perseverance of the young people he serves.
Marty has an M.A. in Public Administration from Cal State, Northridge and is a graduate of the Nonprofit Executive Leadership Institute’s Ascending Leaders Program at Bryn Mawr College. Most recently, Marty was named Coach of the Scarlet Dragons in the Nether Providence U-9 Girls Soccer League. This is the greatest challenge he has faced to date.
