Inspired by Gandi’s famous quote, “Be the change you wish to see in the world”, Nakesha Anthony believes that empowering young adults is the key to rebuilding our neighborhoods. After graduating from Belize Medical College she moved back to her hometown-NY to serve as a VISTA for the National Association of Community Health Centers. She was placed in a school based clinic in Manhattan to create sustainable sexual education programming. This is where Nakesha decided that she wanted to work around health and education within a school environment.
In 2011, Nakesha moved to Philadelphia and joined YouthBuild Philadelphia as Health Care Coordinator. Nakesha is part of a 2 woman team that train students to become home health aides as well as teach the importance of showing patients compassion and empathy. She brings high energy in supporting her students as they work hard to decrease health disparities that affect them and their surrounding communities.
During her spare time, Nakesha enjoys hanging with family, dining at different restaurants, experiencing nature with her daughter, and reading a good book.
