Science Teacher

Pete Celona teaches three classes: Research in S.T.E.A.M (Science, Tech, Engineering, Art & Math), Carpenter’s Union & NCCER Math, and Building Science.   Mr. Pete also leads a number of clubs and electives such as Robotics & Coding, MAKER Space & 3D Printing, Rockets, Chess, Running & YMCA, Theater & Band, and Audio/Visual.  Pete is entering his 12th year as a public school teacher and his 7th with YouthBuild Philly.

Pete earned his BA from the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, VA, and his MA in Education from Alliant International University and UC San Diego, CA.  Pete has also studied math and science through the Community College of Philadelphia, UC Berkeley, MIT, the Exploratorium, and the University of Barcelona, Spain.

Pete is a proud member of the National Science Teachers Association, the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, and the Philadelphia Runner Track Club.

Pete enjoys gardening, drawing, making music, cooking, yoga, and once walked the 2,200 mile Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine in 186 days.
