One of our most cherished traditions here at YouthBuild Philly, is to celebrate Thanksgiving as one big family. Every year on Thanksgiving Eve, we invite our students and staff to join us for our Annual Thanksgiving Luncheon for an opportunity to fellowship one last time before we depart for the holiday break. This year’s event took place last week and was a complete success. We enjoyed eating delicious food, dancing and listening to great music provided by Dj Zo3 (Class of 2024 student).
Each year, the event takes place in our Community Celebration Room (CCR), where we host our community meetings. For the luncheon, we transformed this space into a fun and festive dining room – shout out to our staff for giving their time to help setup and decorate. Additionally, the food served at the event historically is prepared by our staff, who find joy in sharing their favorite dishes with our YB community – the food always tastes amazing.
This year’s menu items included:
- Turkey
- Fried Chicken
- Mac and Cheese
- Collard Greens
- Cranberry Sauce
- Cabbage
- Mash Potatoes
- Lasagna
- Full dessert table and so much more
In closing, we are immensely grateful for everyone who volunteered to make a dish, help set up, clean up, and everything in between! This year’s event couldn’t have been possible without the help and dedication of staff members, who invested their time and effort to make this year’s luncheon one to remember.
Last but certainly not least, thank you Mr. Paul, our resident chef, for leading the charge in organizing this year’s event. Everything went off without a hitch, and we’re already looking forward to next year’s luncheon.
Happy Holidays!
